Today I posted my new song called Crushing The Stone of Indecision. You can hear it here and also on MarkBray.BandCamp.com.
I really meant it with this name. There was a lot to decide on this project and I’m hoping this is sort of a break through on a lot of small decisions. It is my first sort of metal release in many years. The first thing I had to decide was the band name. Ohhhhh, how that is not so easy these days.
There are so many bands, characters, books, songs, and about every other product you can think of, from all over the world available at the same time to everyone now. That makes it really, really hard to find a name that is not taken. I’ve been searching for names for years and thought I had a couple but they were taken. I finally just wanted to get this out to share with my friends just for fun so I am just going to use my name. Of course, my name is also taken for other musicians, writers, artists, ect. So, here is my new release on BandCamp where I was the first Mark Bray since I was one of the earlier users of the platform.
That was just the start of it. Talking about decision fatigue! Here are a few things I had to decide.
Which guitar to us?
What tuning? How low should I go?
How to record the guitar, which amps, virtual or real?
How to record the drums?
How to master the recording?
Come up with a name?
Make artwork?
How to release the track?
I could go on and on forever but I finally did it and now we are on our way. Time to make a new song with all these settings already figured it out. Maybe it won’t take me years to finish this time?!?
Enjoy!
