This weekend, the “Not For Real” art show, presented by the Art Guild of Pacifica, had its opening. Darcy Rowley and Mark Bray were there with their new paintings showing off a very pink vibe.
Darcy created an imaginary landscape with a vibrant pink sky and palm trees on the cliffs. She works with oil pastels on cradled birch board. Darcy draws inspiration from nature and the grain of the wood to create pastel blends of colors, clouds and waves on the beach.
Mark presented a totally new style for him. Until now he has mostly been showing abstract, post minimalist works of acrylic on canvas. This year he is working on new characters to blend with his abstract backgrounds. Cupcake Kitten is an acrylic on canvas painting created out of Mark’s brain. In the future they may come in different breeds and flavors.
Both paintings are for sale and available at the Sanchez Art Center through June 26.
